Dollhouse R.I.P.
Jan 30th
Well, once again Mr. Joss Whedon I have to say THANK YOU. It seems like all of your shows are oh-so-good yet cut short in their prime? I have to wonder if it’s the industry or partly your decision to keep things fresh. Well, whatever the reason, I wish you the best of luck in finding a new project. Whatever it may be, I’m sure we will love it. With followings like you’ve had for Firefly and Buffy, you obviously have the fans a true icon should. And let’s hope your next project is not so short-lived. I’m looking forward to being introduced to more faces to keep an eye on in Hollywood. I mean, you alone have put some of my favorite actors/actresses in front of me. Without you I might have never heard of Nathan Fillion, or Summer Glau, or Felicia Day and for that as well as your cunning originality I will forever be grateful. Well, before this veers too far from the short heart-felt THANK YOU for which it was intended, I will bid you adieu.
For those of you that do not know who Joss Whedon is, get out from under your rock and read up! Or better yet buy some of his masterpieces (Buffy, Firefly, Serenity, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, and now Dollhouse). Become a Joss Whedon supporter, you won’t regret it.
For those fans of Dollhouse out there, you should check out THIS ARTICLE for in-depth looks at some of the stories and ideas behind Dollhouse.
I am a Browncoat through and through and damn proud of it!
MTV Awards
Jun 5th
If there was EVER any doubt about who controls the MTV movie awards, it has now definitively been settled. Teenage girls just can’t get enough of their sappy “love” stories with their guys “oh so dreamy” (if dreamy is pale, anorexic, and looks more suited for ballet than baseball).
Yes people, Twilight won 5 awards. And the sad thing is, it isn’t even very good. I’ve heard great reviews on the books, and I’m sure if you ask anyone that has read the book and seen the movie, they will say the book is far better. But still, was it me or was the movie extremely lacking in content? I, honestly, don’t think it was just me. I believe there are many people out there that feel the same way and they, just like me, realize it’s a waste of money to vote in one of these things.
Synopsis (SPOILER ALERT!!!!)
Movie starts
A young girl goes to a new school
She sees a guy
They stare at each other for about an hour
She goes home
The end….
But seriously, there was no content to that movie. It was just a “love” story in which nothing happened. And don’t you even think about arguing, “but oh, they had a great fight seen at the end”. That has to be the most anti-climactic fight seen ever. They may as well have played thumbwars, it was over so quickly. The first, umm, hour of the movie has nothing. Then this guy shows up and wants to fight. Then they build up the rest of the movie for a fight seen. Then they fight, 3 hits later, it’s over. Seriously, this just ruined the movie. It took over half the movie before they even added a plot (other than obsession) and then 10 minutes later it’s over.
I like the way the people over at Jinx Clothing Company put it…
“Don’t you think the vampires-are-people-too thing has gone a little too far? I mean, the whole point of a vampire is that they survive by sucking your blood. I don’t care if his skin glows and twinkles and he smells like kittens and fabric softener, he’s still just a glorified syringe. Remember the last time you had blood drawn? Yeah, me too, and it sucked! It’s time we put an end to this nonsense: Edward, may I treat you to a stake dinner?”
…and then Buffy staked Edward…The END.
